From fishing rainforest streams in Puerto Rico as a boy to running an outfitter on Canal Street and captaining the CANA offshore, the water has always been part of my story.
This is a record of businesses, guiding and community work from earlier chapters of my life—not an advertisement for active charters or public tour bookings.
I bought New Smyrna Outfitters from the Tripp family, operated the Canal Street business, and sold it in 2015. We outfitted anglers for the flats, offshore trips and fly fishing, but the best part was bringing people together. The original August 2014 Grand ReOpening photographs document that chapter.
On April 11, 2014, the shop hosted the local Fly Fishing Film Tour alongside Capt. Brian Clancy’s Mosquito on the Fly III tournament benefiting Casting for Recovery. The original event listing names the shop as host and records the films, awards and giveaways.
I launched NSB Fishing Charters LLC in 2015 and ran offshore trips aboard the CANA. My working docks included North Causeway Marine, Fishin’ Cove and Adventure Yacht Harbor near Boondocks before I moved the charter operation to Bayside Marina at World Wide Sportsman in Islamorada. The precise dates of the individual dock changes are still being documented.
A July 2018 Daytona Beach tourism article describes CANA as a twin-engine, turbo-diesel Luhrs sportfishing yacht at Adventure Yacht Harbor. Historical guest reviews preserve the experiences of families and anglers who fished with the crew.
My outfitting and guiding work included trips in South Andros, the Caribbean, Costa Rica and South America, along with Florida fishing, camping, hiking and kayak excursions. Some were deliberately quiet nature outings with no phones or cameras; others explored bioluminescence after dark or observed manatees and dolphins by day.
These travels and guiding styles come from my firsthand account. Original itineraries, magazine issues and event photographs are still being collected; no specific dates or endorsements are implied.
